David Bodamer of WealthManagement.com explores the expansion of the evergreen fund market in his latest article. Bodamer makes reference to a Preqin study, which estimates that the evergreen fund market has reached $350 billion globally.
The evergreen fund market includes interval and tender offer funds, BDCs, and non-traded REITs, among other European fund structures. The Preqin report shows that the wealth management channel has increasingly utilized evergreen funds over the past decade, largely for access to alternative investments.
These alternative investment vehicles offer investors opportunities for diversification and potentially higher returns. In her contribution to the article, Kimberly Flynn, Managing Director at XA Investments, commented on the growing utilization of alternatives, stating, “Investors are increasingly seeking out strategies with more illiquidity premium to enhance returns in a low-return environment.”
