XA Investments Contributes to Ignites Article on Wellington’s First Interval Fund

Alyson Velati from Ignites discusses Wellington Management’s forthcoming launch of its first interval fund, the Wellington Global Multi-Strategy Fund. The article, “Wellington to Launch Its First Interval Fund,” features insights from Kimberly Flynn, President of XA Investments.

Wellington’s new interval fund will actively trade securities across multiple strategies, including long/short equity, global macro, market-neutral, and credit. The fund’s launch is noteworthy because, as Flynn points out, “it begs the question if they will be marketing the fund directly to family offices and RIAs.” Historically, Wellington has preferred to maintain a discreet brand presence, acting as a subadviser for retail products.

Wellington’s interval fund will offer multiple share classes and charge a performance-based incentive fee. The fund imposes a minimum requirement so only “qualified clients” that have at least $1.1 million in AUM and a net worth of $2.2 million are able to invest. Wellington’s move into interval funds reflects a strategic pivot amidst evolving market dynamics favoring alternative investments.
