Citywire covers the expansion of interval and tender offer fund market in new article by Kimberly Flynn, President of XA Investments

Kimberly Flynn, President of XA Investments, writes on the rapidly expanding interval and tender offer fund space for Citywire. Within the market, one of the fastest growing segments has been infrastructure focused funds, with three new funds launched in the first six months of 2024. The April 1st launch of the Versus Capital Infrastructure Income Fund brought the total infrastructure funds to six, with six additional funds in the SEC registration process.

In addition to the fast-growing infrastructure subsector, other trends are mentions of AI in fund filings and a growth of secondaries focused funds. Growth in the interval and tender offer fund marketplace has helped net assets reach $150bn and the total number of funds reach 230. Out of the 230 funds, there were 130 unique sponsors with 41 having two or more funds as of June 30th.

Looking at new funds being launched, there are a record 50 funds in the SEC registration process, with 34 being from new entrants. In the marketplace as a whole, credit is the largest category representing 37% of the market, with 76 total funds and $55.9bn in assets. The market is poised for continued growth, with forecasted net assets of up to $175bn across ~250 funds by the end of 2024. More hedge funds and venture capital focused funds are expected given recent performance of similar strategies. The interval and tender offer fund marketplace has a promising outlook, ready to capitalize on emerging opportunities and investor demands.
